About our city:

 https://youtu.be/SWmm1l073kI

Our school is a secondary agricultural school located in an urban area, in
the suburbs of Lyon (about 15 kms from the city). There are about 250
students, from the 11th grade to the 13th grade. About one third of our
pupils are boarders because they live too far away and don't want to
spend too much time in transport.
Our school is specialized in food processing, agronomy and laboratory
techniques. The school has high tech laboratories and a food technology
laboratory where the students can apply the theory they get in the
lessons. This is their favorite part in the curriculum. On top of that
they must do training periods in food factories or various laboratories
(food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical) to learn more about their future jobs.
They are trained to become laboratory technicians in various fields (food
processing, medical analyses, cosmetic laboratories...).
Our school is known nationally. This is the case for all agricultural
schools because the trainings offered are so specialized that students
sometimes come from far to be able to follow the studies they wish.
What's more, the national curriculum has required all agricultural
schools to adapt their teaching around the topic of sustainable
development and more precisely "Produce more, produce better". So this
new requirement must be dealt with in most subjects.

The beginnings of our school date back to the year 1949. The school was located in a building by Mickiewicza Street, which, although built in 1905 still plays its original role.

In the school year 1965/66 the 11-grade system of schooling was abandoned and the institution was given the status of a secondary school and the name of Adam Mickiewicz. In 1967 the flag was given to our school, which was an important event in the history of the institution.

It is a distant past for us... in 2002, for the first time in the history of the school the headmaster of our secondary school became a woman - Mrs Lucyna Markiewicz. In 2004 bilingual classes were opened. Since September 2009 the school has had a new headmaster Mr Mariusz Domański.
The thing which the school offers first and foremost is the possibility of attending to the best educational institution in Slupsk. It was confirmed in a various rankings.
We are the promoters of the United Europe. The School European Club was established on the 1st September 2000. The members of the club have repeatedly won the Contests of Knowledge of European Union and they deal with propagating competence in the European Union-the countries, their history, geography , famous people, and institutions among other students and their families.
In the year 1989 first international exchange took place- 22 students of the High School left to Flensburg in Germany. Ten years later the school established cooperation with Nowogrod Wielki in Russia. We are currently having an exchange with Sweden and the school in Athens. Since then our students have been constantly takingpart in different programs, starting with Comenius, ending up with Erasmus+.
Our students are also active volunteers. In 1999 they took the initiative to open the School Volunteers Club, constantly cooperating with similar clubs in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic.
The 1st class students have been preparing the Day of Adam Mickiewicz inspired by the life and artistic work of the bard. Another important school event is "Filomeny" - awards given to the best teachers .
We have a breeding ground for new fresh talent - "Fantazja" choir, which has been awarded many prizes including: Grand Prix in an all-Poland Choir Contest in 1998, 2003 and 2006. It was also given the Silver Diploma in the National Choir Contest in Brema in 2004 any many more nationally and world - widely.
The youngsters of our school are offered a possibility to study 6 different languages - Russian, English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
Among the graduates of the "Mickiewicz" school there are over 300 winners of national and international subject contests.

All these educational values assembled make it worth studying in that institution.

In the past, São Brás de Alportel had scarce educational infrastructures, having only one or two primary schools, obliging the children who wanted to continue studying to go to the capital city, Faro, that is about 20 Km away from this town situated in the interior of the Algarve. It is important to say that, at the time the accesses were not so good.

Having this situations in mind, a S. Brás citizen decided to open a private school, supported by the government, to give its people easier access to instruction and knowledge. After almost 50 years, the town hall, with the support of the government, built a new school with much better conditions and form 1994 on, S. Brás is dotated with a public high school and a public Secondary School, as the ancient building now belongs to the Government and is the Secondary school.

At the moment we can say that S. Brás de Alportel has Kindergartens, Primary schools all over the county, a high school and a secondary school, directed by one headmaster. So, these schools belong to the same group - Group of schools José Belchior Viegas. The all group is composed by 1514 students from 3 to 18 years old, 148 teachers and 110 other professionals - administrative and auxiliary.

The secondary school offers 2 ways of learning: the regular courses, that give direct access to University, and the Professional Courses that are destined to the students that want to ingress in a professional career. Presently, the school's regular courses are: Humanities, Science and Economics. The professional courses are: Pastry/cooking, Sports, Multimedia and Information Systems. The Professional Courses have a total of 90 students, out of a total of 311 students in the secondary school.

It is a small school, but we consider it our second home, as people are nice and helpful.
